Seeing my children growing has been my first chance to perfect my portrait skills and the study of expressions and expressivity.
Being a mother gave me the chance to portrait these marvelous subjects: I spent hours and hours staring at them, taking pictures of them being careless, unaware, developing, their glance becoming mature, their transition from the age of fairy tales to that of consciousness and awareness. This natural and fluid spontaneity and straightforwardness is what I look for in the men and women I photograph, and I do so trying to create a close relationship based on empathy and trust.
Photographing kids means celebrating important moments that are bound to never come back such as the transition into adult life. Moments that capture the ongoing, never-ending storm of emotions going through their head behind their eyes. A new world in continuous evolution made of changes disclosed by their new looks and the discovery of their existence.
