I love to reveal beauty, especially the female one: my aim is to show you the most beautiful and intense image you have ever seen of yourself. “But with her you had it easy, she is already beautiful.” or “I don’t like being photographed. I don’t feel photogenic. “
These are the usual words I here from people watching the portraits of all the women I photographed or the photos of my wedding couples. But they don’t know that nearly all of them had the same objections before they lived the experience of being photographed by me;)
In my work it is the empathy that triggers the spark, it is the relationship that I try to create with the people I photograph that performs the magic. Empathy is the ability to understand another person’s mood and emotional situation immediately and without verbal communication. Empathy is the ability to “put yourself in the other’s shoes” by perceiving emotions and thoughts in this way.
It is a term that derives from the Greek, en-pathos “to feel inside”, and consists in recognizing emotions of others as if they were their own, descending into the reality of others to understand their points of view, thoughts, feelings, emotions and “pathos”.
But why is empathy important in photography?
Empathy is an important emotional competence that allows you to get in tune with the person with whom you interact more easily. Getting in tune with the couples and people I photograph is essential to be able to tell their story and their personality in an authentic and emotional way. Almost everyone tells me in the first meeting that he doesn’t like being photographed and they don’t feel photogenic. We usually feel a strong discomfort, an embarrassment mixed with shyness and shame when we know we are photographed. Often hides our insecurities and the fear of being “laid bare” and of being judged by others. It recalls the fear of not being up to it, not enough and “imperfect”.
BUT WE CAN ALL BE PHOTOGENIC.
Being photogenic is a psychological issue: if we don’t feel comfortable and at ease we are not natural and consequently we don’t like the photo of us because it doesn’t represent us. Anyone who feels photogenic knows they look good in photos.
So is it possible to be authentic and photogenic in front of the lens?
Yes. The keywords are EMPATHY and TRUST: relying on the sensitivity and empathy of a photographer capable of putting the people he photographs at ease, capable of being in tune with them in order to create a safe space in which they can be themselves, able to see not only with the eyes but with the heart, capable of grasping the essence.
The relationship of trust and the connection between photographer and subject are fundamental to be able to relax and let go, be spontaneous and do not think about the final result but enjoy the experience. The created bond allows the photographer to read emotions and understand the mood … there is understanding, complicity, participation and sharing. What matters is being yourself, BEING AUTHENTIC, just trust me and relax …
The experience of being photographed becomes a moment of exploration, an experience to discover a new vision of oneself, a magic that happens between you and me thanks to empathy, passion, curiosity and creativity.
A good portrait reveals your inner world … your essence.
A good photograph tells a story: YOURS.
Thanks to the established harmony and relationship, the story becomes authentic and engaging. As a wedding photographer, I love to capture the magic that makes each love story and its protagonists unique. Each copy is unique, each wedding is special – it is the photographer’s task to perceive and know how to capture the essence of each moment in all its naturalness by telling the atmosphere with sensitivity and creativity. As a portrait photographer, I like to help especially women of all ages to connect with themselves, with their essence and with their inner strength and show their inner light through my portraits.
You don’t have to worry about being photogenic, you just have to be yourself.
For me, a photo shoot is not just a series of photos but a transformative and powerful experience, a moment to devote to yourself to feel unique, precious, beautiful, creating memories you can appreciate for a lifetime. Our shooting will be like a afternoon at the SPA for your soul, a self-esteem massage, an experience that will realign you with yourself, making you rediscover parts that you had forgotten or never explored …
A SPA for the soul that every woman deserves to indulge in at least once in her life. The result will be an authentic photographic portrait which will talk about you, which will capture your essence and reveal the beauty reflected in your soul.
