Getting married in the Cinque Terre is a dream for a lot of couples, from Italy or from abroad.
This lovely glimpse of Liguria is one of the most romantic and evocative spots of Italy,
nobody can resist its charm!
The Cinque Terre – Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore – are in the County of La Spezia, on the Ligurian Sea.

CINQUE TERRE Beautiful places
Levanto leads the way and is a perfect place to start exploring, it’s called “the door to the Cinque Terre”, right above Monterosso.
My Studio is right here, overlooking the sea.
These lovely places are in one of the sunniest parts of Italy, have a magnificent weather all year long and combine the beauty of the villages with the charm of the sea and the Ligurian cuisine, one of the best in Italy: what else can you wish for?
If you’ve always dreamed of getting married by the sea, a beach wedding in the Cinque Terre is a dream come true!
Monterosso
The evocative Monterosso – Nobel prize winner writer Eugenio Montale’s buen retiro – is the westernmost village of the Cinque Terre and can boast of the biggest beach, the only sandy one.
Between beautiful churches like San Giovanni Battista, shrines, Liberty style mansions and a castle overhanging the sea, getting married in Monterosso is pure magic!
One of the best venues for a wedding in Monterosso al mare is the old Eremo di Santa Maria Maddalena, an oasis of peace on a panoramic view on Gritta Hill, right above the village.
Vernazza
With its houses in pastel colours, the harbour and the beach, Vernazza is a little jewel.
Enjoy a walk in its evocative streets and appreciate the lovely Chiesa di Santa Margherita di Antiochia, an example of Ligurian Gothic, the Convento dei Padri Minori Riformati di San Francesco and the “Belforte” castle.
You can’t miss the splendid Santuario di Nostra Signora di Reggio: you’ll have to walk for a while to get there but it’s really worthed!
Corniglia
The smallest of the Cinque Terre and the only not directly overlooking the sea: the sight from its cape – especially from the Santa Maria terrace – is stunning!
Corniglia is one of the most authentic villages of the Cinque Terre, its beauty is preserved thanks to its less easy access too: to get there you’ll have to walk the 377 steps of the Lardariana stairway, connecting the railroad to the village. The hardship of the climb will be immediately repaid by the view of the symbol of Corniglia: the Chiesa di San Pietro with its Carrara marble rose window.
Right below the cape, there is one of the most beautiful and intimate beaches of Liguria, very sought after by nudists. The big beach of Corniglia has an easiest access, with its white pebbles, guarded by the reef.
Corniglia is the homeland of a famous wine too, Vernaccia, and even Boccaccio in his Decameron wrote about it.

Manarola
Manarola is literary set in rock, with colourful little houses that looks suspended between the sky and the land or better: between the sky and the sea.
This village is famous for its panoramic terraces from which you can enjoy unforgettable views, like the ones from Piazza Castello at sunset.
The Chiesa di San Lorenzo is wonderful, in Ligurian Gothic, and so is the ancient Campanile Bianco. The historical Ospedale di San Rocco and the Oratorio dei Disciplinati della Santissima Annunziata deserve a visit too.
Manarola is famous for the world’s greatest Nativity scene – according to the Guinness World Records -, that is unveiled on December 8th every year: if you are close by at Christmas time you can’t miss it!
Riomaggiore
The world famous Via dell’Amore stretches between Manarola and Riomaggiore, an evocative walkway carved into the rock 50 meters above the sea: walking it is a unique experience, that will completely submerge you in its natural beauty.
This path will lead you to Riomaggiore with its traditional double-entry houses – built to flee in case of Saracen raids – the harbour and the lovely little beach.
In this village, you could have a dream wedding, choosing for your wedding venue the Riomaggiore castle, a stunning building overhanging the sea. l
